Auction Results: November 2022
Michael Bowman's final sale of the year on November 26th provided a bonanza of results from its wide range of entries, highlighted by a collection of valuable Rolex watches.
Early in the day, a set of three white glazed Bovey Pottery 'Our Gang' figures, raised eyebrows when they were bought by an internet bidder for a multi-estimate price of £1,550. Estimated at just £200-300, the 7.5" high caricatures depicted Churchill 'The Boss', Roosevelt & Stalin.
Sparks continued to fly when a black dial stainless steel Rolex Daytona wrist watch, left its £6,000-9,000 estimate far behind in selling to a local collector for £14,500. However, a second Daytona, with a white dial, stole the show when an internet bidder from Cheshire prevailed at £15,000.
The local bidder had further joy, taking home a 1981 Rolex Sea Dweller for £9,500 and a 1991 Sea Dweller for £7,200. Other internet bidders purchased a 1995 GMT-Master for £8.700 and a 1990 GMT-Master for £7,700. Another local collector secured a lady's stainless steel Rolex Oyster Datejust for £2,600, whilst a telephone bidder paid £2,000 for an 18ct gold Rolex Cellini.
The jewellery was led by a good quality old cut five stone diamond ring that doubled its estimate in selling to a local bidder for £3,700. A collection of coins included a Charles II gold guinea that sold for £620 and a Henry VIII groat that also made £620.
