Auction Results: January 2024
Michael Bowman's January 27th auction at Chudleigh proved a typically buoyant New Year event with low levels of unsolds and many impressive prices.
A signed limited edition colour print by L.S. Lowry entitled 'Station Approach' climbed above estimate to a local collector at £1,600.
A collection of antique wine bottles was led by a large, though slightly damaged example originating from Devon and dated 1690. This sold to a collector from North Devon for £840. 13 pieces of Royal Crown Derby Japan pattern tea china, including a teapot, raised eyebrows in selling to a Chinese internet bidder for a multi-estimate £900!
A lady's diamond set bi-metal Rolex Datejust, led the watches, selling to a Cornish collector for £2,600
The undoubted highlight of the day came when a 5.5 carat diamond solitaire diamond ring climbed above estimate to a London internet bidder for £21,500, against telephone bidding from a dealer in Antwerp. Other jewellery results included a 3 carat Ceylon sapphire & diamond cluster ring at £2,400, a diamond fringe necklace at £3,200 and an emerald & diamond cluster ring which sold for £3,900.
Michael Bowman is now accepting suitable entries for his next auction to be held at Chudleigh on March 23rd.
