Auction Results: March 2024
Michael Bowman's March 23rd auction at Chudleigh saw high levels of internet bidding, proving that demand remains strong for good quality offerings.
Watches and jewellery dominated proceedings. A 1999 Rolex Submariner attracted a local bidder at £5,300, whilst the more commonly encountered Datejust model in bi-metal sold to an internet bidder for £2,500. Another local collector emerged to take home the 1973 Omega Constellation Electronic in 18ct gold for £3,600. This was in wonderful condition and could be faintly heard still making its distinctive electronic 'hum'. A lady's diamond set Omega Constellation 'Star' had a longer journey to make after being secured by a Polish internet bidder for £1,600.
A jeweller from Antwerp bought the top jewellery item on the telephone, taking a certified 3.75 carat light yellow diamond solitaire for £7,500. A small Victorian diamond tiara was an exotic addition to the day at £4,500. A colour change 3.6 carat Ceylon sapphire & diamond ring in the art deco style went to a Dorset collector, making her very first purchase at auction for £3,700!
Internet bidders from New York bought a 2 carat old cut diamond solitaire for £4,600 as well as an art deco style diamond ring for a double-estimate £3,000.
A Hatton Garden mailing list client appreciated the charms of the final lot of the day, a large Victorian oval aquamarine & diamond brooch, paying more than double-estimate, £4,200.
Michael Bowman is now accepting suitable entries for his next auction to be held at Chudleigh on June 1st.
