A collection of French art glass was keenly fought over, led by a small Daum painted cameo bowl at £720 and a Galle green cameo spherical vase at £700. A heavy conical Lalique vase in Moissac pattern took £600.

A large Chinese enamelled tray decorated with birds and flowers on a white ground, had been extensively restored but was of sufficient quality to tempt a Chinese telephone bidder from MIddlesex to a final multi-estimate bid of £2,100.

Michael Bowman's May 30th auction held at Chudleigh Town Hall was a small, select offering that attracted much competitive bidding producing high selling rates.

The watches were led by the stainless steel Rolex 'Steve McQueen' Explorer II that sold to a local bidder in the room for £10,200. Another local collector took the Jaeger LeCoultre stainless steel tank cased watch for £1,450.

An old cut diamond pendant necklace sold to a Hatton Garden jeweller for £3,000. A five carat blue spinel ring sold to a dealer from Hampshire for £1,200.

A 3.6 carat old cut diamond solitaire was one of the stars of the sale, selling to a telephone bidder from Lincolnshire for £10,500. A 9ct gold charm bracelet with 18ct gold charms went to an internet bidder from London for £2,100.

An Austrian internet bidder bought the civilian GBE, KCB medal group awarded to Sir Otto Niemeyer, which included the Austrian Order of Merit, for an almost double estimate sum of £5,700. Niemeyer was a director of the Bank of England 1938-52.
