Some results from our most recent sale

The New Year is usually a very buoyant time but this sale was given extra lift by the rare Rolex military issue Submariner 5517 that climbed well above its £4,000-6,000 estimate, finally selling to an internet bidder based in the UAE for £42,000. This is a new house record for a watch.
The picture section was led by a large modern oil on card by the local artist Anthony Amos (1950-2010), depicting a steamship in port in rusty tones. This attracted an internet collector from Falmouth for a double estimate £2,200.
Currently high silver prices were exemplified by the 1944 Sheffield four piece tea service that sold to a local bidder for £1,800.
Other watches on offer included the stainless steel Omega Seamaster Professional at £1,800 and the 1959 18ct gold Rolex 'Thunderbird' Datejust that sold to an internet bidder from Stoke for £5,000. A boxed stainless steel Rolex Oyster made £2,100. A 9ct gold half hunter cased pocket watch and a smaller 18ct gold Waltham pocket watch each made £1,250 to a local bidder.
Michael Bowman's January auction at Chudleigh Town Hall proved to be one of the most successful events in the auctioneer's 40 years of business.

A Hatton Garden jeweller bought the small Kutchinsky gold cat pendant for £1,400 as well as the Victorian pink topaz & pearl necklace for a multi-estimate price of £7,900 and the fancy yellow diamond cluster ring for £3,400.
A local bidder in the room was pleased to go home with the 5.5 carat colour change Ceylon sapphire ring for her winning bid of £4,700.
